Guess which sportsman owned this BMW M5

Auto Trader has a gorgeous BMW M5 previously owned by a legendary sportsman for sale on the site.
The 2000 BMW has a whopping 400bhp V8 engine giving the German motor a 0-62mph time of just 5.3 seconds.

And it has a top speed of 155mph – 8 more than the maximum this sportsman would normally get.

Film and TV cars wait in the wings on Auto Trader

Film and TV cars wait in the wings on Auto Trader
Our round-up of brilliant cars from the early 1970s got us wondering which other film and telly cars we could find on Auto Trader.
Remember the Mustang Nicholas Cage steals last in Gone in Sixty seconds? Since the movie a dedicated bunch of designers have produced [...]

Lewis Hamilton swaps Stevenage for Switzerland

Lewis Hamilton is swapping Stevenage for Switzerland in search of a quieter life.
And just like David Coulthard and Jenson Button, who live in Monaco, Hamilton will also see his tax bill slashed.
Are you sorry to see Hamilton go? What would you do in his position?

No speed limits for German motorways

Germany’s speed limit–free Autobahns have been granted a stay of execution by Chancellor, Angela Merkel.
After a coalition of her own party won a vote to introduce 80mph limits, she publicly announced that the Autobahn would not be shackled on her watch.

Would you buy a Ferrari FXX Evoluzione?

Imagine for a moment that you had a sufficiently fat wad of cash to afford a Ferrari FXX Evoluzione, and that Ferrari liked you enough to sell you one.
Would you do it?
On the face of it you’d be crazy not too. This new version of the FXX (based on the Enzo) was honed by seven [...]

One of a kind: The Koenigsegg and more

I’ve been playing around with our new used car search tool and it’s fascinating to discover all the different car makes that have just a single car for sale on the site.
Top Gear fans will know all about the Koenigsegg CCX. You can get your hands on the 800bhp two-seater supercar - but it doesn’t [...]

Lewis, a law-enforcing Lotus and a little Audi: the week in brief

Lewis Hamilton’s defeat at the Brazilian Grand Prix on Sunday brought the nation to tears. We looked back at his first season in Formula One, while F1 supremo Jackie Stewart spoke to our man Keith Collantine.
The Tokyo Motor Show preview unveiled some astonishing concept cars - including Audi’s sensational new starlet, the all-new A1 concept, [...]

Subaru Impreza: New vs old

The wait is over, the Subaru Impreza STI has been officially unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show and all its technical details are now in the public domain.
Closely resembling the WRC concept, the STI certainly looks much meaner than the standard Impreza hatch with a much broader stance, aggressive wheels and quad exhaust pipes.
Under the [...]

The ‘Oopma Loompa’ Bentley – Modifying gone mad?

German tuners Mansory have taken the normally subtle Bentley Continental and turned it into an animal capable of 205mph.
But it’s not the 200mph+ top speed which gets the petrolhead’s pulses running at first, it’s the Bentley’s bodywork.

The normally reserved-looking footballers’ favourite has been to the tanning salon as well as the tuning shop and is [...]

Stand strong…tread lightly…

It wasn’t supposed to be like this.
It was a sure bet against Russia last Wednesday - but that went horribly wrong.
Even in the face of the mighty Springboks on Saturday - we looked heroic. But that ended in failure.
And a week of misery for British sport culminated in the Sunday afternoon Brazilian Grand Prix debacle [...]
