Three drivers will battle for the F1 title in the final round for the first time in 21 years.
But who will be champion – rookie revelation Lewis Hamilton, reigning champion Fernando Alonso or twice runner-up Kimi Raikkonen?
Rookie star Lewis Hamilton has led the title race since May. But a disastrous mistake in yesterday’s Japanese Grand prix cost him a chance of wrapping up the title before the final round.
He’s won four times this year, and has 107 points.
His team mate and reigning double champion Fernando Alonso has also won four times this year, and second place in yesterday’s race brought him within four points of Hamilton.
But Alonso has been dogged by controversy all year after a public-falling out with his McLaren team. He criticised the team for failing to give him preferential treatment over Hamilton and threatened to expose evidence against them in the hearings into alleged spying.
Yesterday’s winner Kimi Raikkonen has won five races this year – more than any other driver. But he struggled early in the season and has had more car failures than his rivals.
Unlike Hamilton and Alonso, who are fighting for the title between themselves, he can count on the support of team mate Felipe Massa, who cannot win the championship.

Hey : good weblog, simply trying about a blogs, seems a reasonably good platform you are using. I am currently using WordPress for a of my personal websites however wanting to change one in all them much more than to a platform kind associated with like yours the shot operate. Something in explicit you would recommend concerning it?
I think will be Felipe Massa. Ferrari has the best car and despite Kimi is the champion Massa is fastest
I hope Lewis Hamilton or Kimi Raikonnen win the world championship. I can not stand Fernando Alonso!I think he is a cheat! I am only 13 but you would be surprised about how much Iknow about formula 1
hamilton has had a great season my heart wants him to win , but my head says raikonnen with ferrari and massa to help him will win.lewis is a champion of the future no doubt , but his rookie year will be one of learning as he did in china, also the ferrari camp are a strong team where as the fighting at Mclaren may be enough to give ferrari the edge of the 3 drivers raikonnen seems to me to have the best raw race pace over full race distance in recent events
I was completely shocked to see Hamilton go out yesterday, but I have to agree with Adrian – it’s suddenly got a lot more exciting now.
Ferrari are still in the runnings thanks to Raikonnen but I’m personally rooting Hamilton to win.
Am I the only one who is slightly pleased by yesterday’s result?
It leaves the championship wide open for a thrilling three man, last race decider.
It gives Raikonnen and Alonso belief they can still win the title. But it also gives Hamilton, in his debut season, the chance to write one of sporting history’s great fairy tales.
For the fair weather F1 fan, it’s been arguably the best season in years.
Bring on Brazil
Was there anyone not on the edge of their seat yesterday morning? Couldn’t believe it when Hamilton went off.
I know Hamilton is a rookie, without the expert knowledge of how to handle a situation, but McLaren were mad not to force him to pit.
He should have wrapped up the championship, but Shanghai was a shambles
