That’s it – the test is booked, and I’ve got one month left to perfect my driving skills and meet my aim of passing first time.
I won’t lie by saying anticipation is low. I’m like a child waiting for Christmas morning to arrive, with a driving license for a present.

But if I drive badly, then I’ll be punished with wasted test fees. I would rather be given a lump of coal than that any day.
The only real problem facing me is perfecting the reverse park, or the parallel park. I’ve not long been taught this last manoeuvre and it shows (that’s my excuse anyway).
I can easily pull off the reverse after a few tries, but when I attempt it at the start of a new lesson I’ve shamefully forgotten the brunt of the driving technique.
Take last week for example – I moved parallel to a parked car, before smoothly reversing and slightly turning left.
The problem was steering too much, so by the time I turned right to level up, the back of the car was almost up the pavement, inches away from hitting a tree.
In the three lessons I have left though, mark my words – this will be corrected!
