No more dodging EU speeding fines
Foreign drivers will no longer be able to avoid speeding fines in the UK after a deal was struck with the European Commission yesterday.
It also means UK drivers are more likely to be fined if caught speeding in an EU nation.
Are you happy with the change?
Previously the police have withdrawn charges against foreign drivers because of the difficulty in obtaining their details.
They will now have the power to demand personal details of owners from across the EU.
There are approximately 140,000 foreign registered vehicles on the UK’s roads at any given time which, according to London Councils research, are 30 per cent more likely to be involved in a crash than vehicles registered in the UK.
Do you think this change in the law is a positive step?
