Clocks go forward on Sunday: Why not use the time to fix your car?

Car wash

More than one million motorists could be risking a fine or accident for having defective lights, dangerous brakes or worn tyres.

As the clocks go forward on Sunday, why not use the extra time to give your car a good wash, polish and safety check?

Research by the RAC Foundation shows concentration levels are lower at the beginning of British Summer Time, creating a greater risk of tired motorists driving unsafe cars.

This means now is a great time to carry out a thorough car check.

Make sure your:

•    Lights are working and adjusted correctly, to avoid dazzle
•    Brakes are in good condition
•    Windscreen is free from dirt
•    Tyres have at least 1.6mm tread depth (3mm is recommended)

Will you be carrying out a check this weekend?

  1. well i took the extra light to check my brake lines, fuel lines etc etc and give my car a full service, and then washed it, makes you feel better about driving and give you the piece of mind

  2. What we meant was we effectively get an extra hour of daylight – sorry that wasn’t clear!
