Fuel price slashed – but not in Britain
With the price of oil continuing to rise, drivers worldwide are being hit in the pocket when they vist the pump.
But Japanese motorists got a pleasant surprise yesterday when they woke up to find fuel prices had been slashed by 15 per cent.
Amazingly, Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda apologised to the country and said it was environmentally irresponsible to cut the price of petrol.
The 12p a litre reduction was caused by the financial struggle the Asian country is experiencing.
Britain is also experiencing a tough period, but here the cost of motoring continues to rise.
In some parts of the country diesel has hit 125p a litre, while road tax has been increased, it’s going to cost many motorists £25 to drive into London and a new £1,000 showroom tax will be introduced in 2010 to cars emit more than 255g/km of carbon dioxide – and that would include certain seven seat people carriers. Â
Will this make you drive less or downsize your car? Would you like to see petrol prices cut in Britain?Â

I like most others would like to see petrol cheaper but its the sign of the times at the moment. Things will only be worse in the future for our children when we do finally run out of these non-renewable energy sources. Only then will technology thats already around become cost effective for companies to bring to the market.
