Living with a convertible
I’ve got a Mazda MX-5 on loan at the moment and it came just in time for the first properly warm weekend of the year.
So I set off with my girlfriend for a countryside blast with the roof folded down and judging by the number of other convertibles we saw - Porsche Boxsters, BMW 3 Series, Minis and everything in between - plenty of other people had the same idea.
Do you own a convertible? How often do you drive it with the roof down?
Driving an open topped car is unusual if you’ve never done it before. Rolling through London with the roof down, as I did this morning, I felt quite self-conscious, but I guess you get used to it after a while.
But a spirited drive along a winding road with the wind in your hair is something everyone should experience at least once.
Best bit about the MX-5 so far? The roof goes up in 12 seconds so you aren’t living in fear of a sudden downpour.
Have you ever owned or driven a convertible? Are you thinking of buying one in time for the summer? We’ve got over 2,000 used Mazda MX-5s for sale on auotrader.co.uk today.

Driving along a winding road with the wind in your hair does sound like a nice idea.
I’m thinking of changing my BMW 3 series later on this year for a 3 series convertible but not sure if pros would make up for the cons.
Can anyone help?

I have an older Miata. Got it a couple months ago, and as I live in Atlanta, GA, USA, I’ve been driving around daily with the top down. All the time.
I love it!!
