In keeping with the recent style of Ferrari, takes design cues from the 599. However the most recent pictures on autotrader nearly made me mistake it for a Maserati Granturismo, not a bad thing in it's own right, but when you spend £60K - ish more on a ferrari, you DO NOT want it to look like something else.

I do wish this was a more retro, classic and passionate design, as it will be a very forgettable car.

all in all, I'd rather have the hard top F430, and a Ducati 1098S for sunday morning blasts :D

Yes Thai, Ferrari have copied Lexus and are losing their imagination. That's right. Well done. Excellent observation.

Steepo - have you really owned a Ferrari? Ooooooooh. Can I be your boyfriend?

It seems to me that Steepo's arrogant and narrow minded opinion was simply a way of him/her trying to imply to people that he/she has in fact owned a Ferrari - Woopdi doo - Good for you, but that has nothing to do with it!

I actually do think that the front doesnt look as aggresive as Ferraris' have done so. Quite resembles a Maserati (referring to the grill section, as well as the vents on the sides).

There is also something about the rear that lacks that smooth and sporty look - It sort of looks like a cartoon character - a potatoe face that seems a little grumpy and sad. I presume that the rear is as wide as ferraris' usually are, yet it doesnt look like it really is. Something "VW Passat" and "Saloon car" about it.

Ofcourse it is still a stunning car, but when we make criticisms (Steepo), we have to put things in perspective, and try to remain as objective as we can, and certainly comment baring into mind other Ferrari models. Which as they are so well engineered (in every way), can indeed set the bar very high, and thus promote strict and thorough comparisons, as well as influence us to expect very high standards in all aspects of design, engineering and performance with the Ferrari marque.

Thanks, Adam

I think it looks good, still slighty prefer the shape of the 360 and 430 spider to this, however the 360 took a while to grow on me and I think this new California will do the same. I think the front looks similar to the 599 with the back looking not dissimilar to the back of a 430 apart from the exhausts. All in all I dont think its as aggresive looking as some but its going to grow on me and Im sure when I see it in the flesh I will fall in love the same way I do when I see practically any Ferrari (not including 456!).
Of course it looks different to the original nothing will be built like those from the 60s and 70s and we have to deal with it but saying ferrari has lost its inspiration would be incorrect.

The front resembles the MC12 front end.

Compared to the Superamerica (? - the one that looks like a 575 without its roof) it does appeal more, but it doesn't do it for me. A tad disappointing really.

Either way the Yanks will lap it up. If I had the money, it would be a 599 all the way

Steepo

climb of your high horse PLEASE.

It's a very safe design, I'm not suprised at all that is shares the f430 engine even if it state's as being "new"
I do feel that the dutch take on the original 250gto based on the 599 has created some inspiration, but sadly I do feel that the design of the California falls short of past model's timeless looks, I feel it will age quickly. Those exhausts are ............... interesting. I'll reserve judgment until I catch one in the flesh.

All nice, not too sure if its not a F430 engine being tuned to produce 450 brake. Also the rear lights is a curved up version of the current gallardo (not the lp560). And last, don't like the name! California? what happened to "Dino"???
