A row has broken out over which cars best represent Bond – Aston Martins or Bentleys.
While James Bond has been seen driving Astons in recent films like Casino Royale, the books have a slightly different legacy.
Ian Fleming’s original novels depicted Bond’s personal cars as Bentleys.
And, the kerfuffle between British motoring fanatics has come about as it was revealed the new Bond book Devil May Care, by Sebastian Faulks, features the legendary spy driving a Bentley Continental.
The Aston Martin DBS is already known to feature in this year’s upcoming Bond film, Quantum of Solace, but their role in future 007 movies may now be less certain.
Over the years James Bond has driven a huge range of cars including a submarine Lotus Esprit, BMW Z8, Alfa Romeo GTV6 and a Rolls Royce Silver Shadow.
But, he has always had a long standing relationship with Aston Martins in the films, most famously the DB5 with its legendary gadgets (including ejector seat and bullet proof shield).
In 2006’s Casino Royale, Bond (played by Daniel Craig) was given an Aston Martin DBS as a gift from M, but in the Ian Fleming novel he received a 1933 Bentley Convertible complete with an Amherst-Villiers Supercharger.
Do you think James Bond should drive an Aston or a Bentley? Which marque do you prefer?

I personally think he should drive an Aston martin. I do think Bentley cars are amazing, but more for the person who wouldn’t like to get dirty, where as James Bond is a mad monster i think the Aston suits him just well. Sam

aston martin and james bond have a great relationship, with the new dbs absultly stunning and fits perfect with the modern day bond. bentley make beautiful motors but the continental gt although a eye catching beauti has been around for sumtime now, the next generation of the gt will fit in well with bond but for now let bentley needs to wait for there time and let the aston take place were it is at home!

i agree the aston and bond go together perfectly. to put it clearly bonds a rough and tough playboy just like the aston, whereas the continental gt is more for an older more larger entrapenure having a mid life crisis! dont get me wrong bentley make wonderfuly beautiful cars but it just dosent look like something a supercool mi6 agent would drive so i think the aston will always be the one for james bond! jay
