Big cars from budget brands

Under Volkswagen’s ownership, Skoda has gained a great reputation for building reliable and cheap-to-run cars.

Today prices were announced for the new Skoda Superb – the largest and most expensive model in its range.

But would you want to buy a big saloon from a ‘budget’ brand?

From £15,490 you can get your hands on this big saloon with lots of great features. Even the most basic model gets seven airbags and climate control as standard.

When Volkswagen launched the Phaeton – a luxury car starting at over £40,000 – it found it hard to sell, even though it was a great piece of engineering.

Have you bought a Phaeton or a Superb – or one of their rivals?

Would you rather buy a big car with all the bells and whistles from a ‘budget brand’ or would you plumb for a premium brand car with basic spec?
