British Grand Prix heading to Donington

Amidst the run-up to the British Grand Prix this weekend, it has been announced it will be one of the last held at Silverstone.

From 2010 the venue for the biggest event in British motorsport will be Donington Park.

The last time the British Grand Prix was held there was in 1993.

Formula 1 boss, Bernie Ecclestone, criticised the government for not stepping in to help Silverstone carry out necessary improvements to its facilities.

“We wanted a world class venue for Formula One in Britain, something the teams and British F1 fans could be proud of,” added Ecclestone.

“The major development plans for Donington will give us exactly that. A venue that will put British motor sport back on the map.”

Do you think Donington Park will be a better Grand Prix venue than Silverstone?
