The Golf has lead the class & almost invented the hot hatch label. The classic design elements have been retained AND updated with signature elements from the Scirooco.
IMHO the Mk 5 lost the plot a little with the front mirroring lots of other marques; compare a Golf 5 front to a Peugeot or Vauxhall of the same vintage & there’s hardly any difference. The Mk 6 marks a return to the “delicious Teutonic bullishness” of the Mk 4.
I just don’t get the people who whinge for a radical shape change. If you want lots of unnecessary angles & robotic chic, then buy a Civic…
These days, people want something different at least every 2 years.
this golf looks like the one built in 2003!!!!
we will not buy it again.Let’s go japonese and get some changes….VW is losing the plot and will loose a lot of customers who want some change of shape…

Very much a Mark 5 thats gone under the surgeons knife!
But then again, why radically alter a winning formula…VW are not Ford or Honda (thank goodness!!), they dont need to trade on ridiculous add ons and triangular exhaust pipes (so cheap looking!) and awkward angles to catch the eye of a true hatch back driver!
