A new motor racing series called Superleague Formula aims to bring motor racing and football together. And it gets started at Donington Park in Leicestershire on the 30th and 31st of August.

Tottenham Hotspur and Rangers are the only two British teams to have signed up for the series so far. Will this be enough to entice football fans to racing tracks?

The first race is expected to feature teams from 16 clubs. There will be qualifying on Saturday to decide the grid for the first of Sunday’s raced. The second race on Sunday will start with drivers in the reverse order to how they started the first.

The roster of clubs includes Tottenham Hotspur, Rangers, AC Milan, PSV Eindhoven, FC Porto, Olympiacos, Borussia Dortmund, RSC Anderlecht, Flamengo, FC Basel, Galatasaray SK, Sevilla FC, Corinthians, Al Ain, Beijing Gouan FC and AS Roma. There will be six races this year, all in Europe.

But it remains to be seen whether motor racing fans will be interested in watching cars named after football clubs, or whether football fans will want to watch a motor race just because their team is involved.

What do you think? Will you be going to the first Superleague race?
