While the world is still shaking from the earthquake at the epicentre of the financial market, it’s good to see some bankers aren’t climbing trees in their £100,000 Porsche 911s.
One of the UK’s largest banks – Lloyds TSB – has recently taken over HBOS.
And what does Sir Victor Blank, Lloyds Chairman, prefer to roll around in? Not a Rolls Royce Phantom like Sir Alan Sugar, or a top of the range Mercedes or BMW.
No – one of the most influential figures in finance drives an electric G-Wiz.
Sir Victor Blank has been spotted numerous times outside Lloyds TSB HQ, with a company spokesperson saying: “He’s quite a fan of the electric car”.
Other G-Wiz fans include Gavin and Stacey star Joanna Page, Hollywood actress Kristen Scott Thomas and BBC talk show host Jonathan Ross.
And London Mayor Boris Johnson – who took over from Ken Livingstone – raved about the G-Wiz arguing it is “revolutionary.”
Johnson said: “In case you have yet to spot one of these mobile rabbit hutches, they are manufactured in India out of plastic and rubber bands, and since they are powered by a battery they emit no more CO2 than a small dandelion. They are at once as green, and as hopeful for the future of capitalism, as a dollar bill.”
What do you make of the G-Wiz? Would you buy one?

Great. Everyone is now praising him because hes gone from being a banker who as a group have created the financial climate we’re in just now to owning one of the cars that is killing the planet. They are unsafe, made of plastic, a lot of emissions are produced when the car is being built. Biggest of all though is that noone realises where the electricity comes from. Highly polluting power stations. Its better for the environment to drive an older car and drive sensibly no matter what size it is. When will people realise this.
They promise the world but fail to deliver. This over finance leaves you behind. There are even the earthquake of Lloyds TSB HQ which have used a dollar bill, but this is indeed rare.
Just goes to show you, it doesn’t matter how much money you make or how high your position in life is…your vehicle is a smart purchase these days, not just an accessory. He CAN buy an ultra-fabulous car, but he CHOOSES a sensible electric model. That says a lot!
