The price of car tax is set to change from April 2010, depending on how much CO2 your vehicle emits.
Our 2010 car tax guide lists all the new bands, prices and CO2 emissions. How much will it cost to tax your car?
If you buy a new car after April 2010, you’ll have to pay a first-year rate – or ‘showroom tax’ – based on CO2 emissions.
New cars which emit less than 130g/km of CO2 will be exempt from car tax for the first year, but more polluting cars will have higher first-year fees.
Our 2010 car tax guide has all the information for the upcoming bands and prices in 2010, including changes to cars which are over nine years old. Use the table to find out how much your car will cost to tax next year.
For information on the current tax system read our 2009 car tax guide.
Will you be paying more on car tax? Are you thinking of downsizing to a smaller car?

Tax can change year by year, and I have found few places that present real up-to-date information. At http://www.nextgreencar.com/roadtax.php you can type in details for a specific vehicle and receive correct tax costs. This site also contains information for company car taxing.
Apparently, VED tax changes for April 2011 will not be announced until much nearer the time, but are unlikely to change too much due to the reasonably significant changes of 2010.
Driving a Citroen C2 I’m pretty happy!
The Taxes on the cars are always the confusing things for the car buyers. The structure of the tax plans changes quite frequently. The normal car buyer can not keep touch but your articles are the best source to get in touch. I am quite impressed with the tax guide you have offered as it is quite helpful tool.
