Jaguar may get moeny from the UK government
The British government is considering giving financial support of up to £1bn to Jaguar Land Rover.
Many British car manufacturers are in trouble because of the credit crunch and declining car sales – which fell by 36% last month.
But should Jaguar Land Rover – which is owned by Indian company Tata – receive money from the British government?
Earlier this week Tata announced it will sponsor the Ferrari Formula 1 team next year. Should a company that has money to spend on expensive sponsorship deals be given public money?
Jaguar Land Rover claims 75,000 British workers’ jobs could be at risk if it doesn’t get support from the government.
The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders has described the situation as “a national emergency requiring urgent action.”

Landrover need to make good rock solid UK made cheaper cars
Would love landrover to sell cheaper cars, low paid workers like myself would like to buy a new british car to support the economy but have always had to have second hand and dont forget there are an awful lot of low paid workers in this country. p.s VOSA are blood sucking scum bags ..
God save the queen.
Jaguar & landrover should try selling their cars for less. The classic example is the LR Freelander HSE. How can they justify thirty three thousand pounds for a car like that when its nearest rival is
twenty five thousand, with luxury as standard. Sell top of the range for less & make more money by purely selling cars & not a name bran.
The move mihgt be a better one than leaving lots of people and businesses to lose their jobs and will end up on dole which is borne by the government, the government does not get any taxes from thee businesses, have to look after the effected people and all becuase in the short term the company is suffering from loss of sales as it is in the premier segment that is on the wrong end of business in a recessionary market. It is about economics and not about micro finances, and wether this company can be retained to carry out their manufacturing, however the company should be made to pay part of their future profit to govenemtn as thety have been lent money at a difficult time
