“For me, the best moment was dinner in the Toyota F1 team’s motorhome the evening before the British Grand Prix. Jarno Trulli and Timo Glock were both there and both proved to be the most approachable, unpretentious drivers I’ve yet met.”
Keith Collantine, Assistant Editor (Trade)
Interviewing Sir Stirling Moss. He’s won more races than I’ve had dinners, he’s beaten Juan Manuel Fangio, and he’s a gentleman to his fingertips.
Vijay Pattni, Junior Writer
“Sideways in an Audi RS6 at Silverstone? First drive in our week-long loan of the BMW M3? No. It has to be the day I spent drooling over the Aston Martin DBS. It’s very pretty. It’s very powerful. And I’ve now lost the ability to think straight.”
Dominic Sacco, Copywriter
“My best motoring moment of 2008 has to be passing my driving test when I expected to fail. I’m not sure how I managed to pass after stalling on a T-junction but I won’t complain.”
Andy Goodwin, Junior Writer
“BTCC racing driver Gordon Shedden showing me the lack of grip around Silverstone on a cold November morning. In a Honda Civic racing car. With a broken wrist.”
Adrian Hearn, Senior Writer
“Thrashing the Renault Twingo 133 round Portugal, realising I was about to miss the flight and having to thrash the little car even more. It may not be the most refined car and it’s got a horrible interior but the car just doesn’t break sweat in the corners offering ridiculous amounts of grip. At £12,000 it’s hard to find more fun for less money.”
