January will see a bundle of hot new superminis unleashed onto UK roads – including the Alfa Romeo Mito, Ford Ka and Fiat 500 Abarth.
With plenty of car deals, low petrol prices and postponed tax increases, 2009 is a great time to buy.

New cars in January include:
Alfa Romeo says its hot new supermini takes styling cues from the 8C Competizione supercar, which both caused a stir at the British Motor Show last year.
Prices start at £10,975 for the entry level 1.4-litre Turismo with 95bhp and rise to £14,975 for the sporty 1.4-litre 155bhp Veloce.
Ford’s popular supermini finally gets a new makeover since its arrival in 1996. The new Ka has front lights and styling which resemble a miniature Ford Focus, and prices for the cute city car start from £7,995 and rise to £10,195.
Want a used Ka? There are over 3,000 Ka’s for sale on Auto Trader, with prices ranging from £350 for a 1997 model with 90,000 miles on the clock to £7,500 for nearly-new models.
The Toyota iQ is an important new supermini for the Japanese car maker – it has the looks, economy and features to put it ahead of its competition.
The entry-level model includes 15-inch alloy wheels, electric mirrors, privacy glass, steering wheel-mounted CD controls, air-con, a trip computer and a leather steering wheel. Prices range from £9,495 to £11,495. Search for used Toyota IQ cars on Auto Trader.
The latest generation Megane has been updated with sleek looks, one of the best Renault interiors and plenty of extra kit, including automatic lights and wipers.
The hot 178bhp 2-litre petrol model can accelerate from 0-62mph in 7.8 seconds and has a top speed of 142mph.
Want a used Megane? Buyers can search from over 5,000 used Renault Meganes on Auto Trader, with prices startingfrom around £400 for a 1996 1.4-litre Megane to £16,000 for a nearly-new 58-plate Dynamique model.
The Ferrari Scuderia Spider 16M is a lightweight, harder version of the Ferrari F430 Spider, and can accelerate from 0-62mph in 3.7 seconds with a top speed of 195mph.
Want a used Ferrari? There are 614 Ferraris currently for sale on Auto Trader, and you can expect to pay around £38,000 for a 1998 Ferrari F355.
