Cars we’re driving in January

The Christmas tree is down and the mince pies have all been turned to crumbs, but we’re not sad because January sees the launch of some brilliant new cars. Here’s what we’ll be driving on Auto Trader this month:

Volkswagen Golf Mk VI UK launch

It might look similar to the Mk V, but the latest Golf has been given some excellent updates to make it even better. We were impressed by our first drive in Iceland, but we can’t wait to drive it on more familiar roads to find out how it will really cope with life in Britain.

Alfa Romeo MiTo UK launch

The MiTo has been on sale in Europe for months and January sees its long-awaited UK arrival. Does it still look as good as it did at motor shows last year? Will its chassis and engines give it the sporting feel an Alfa should have? We’ll keep you posted.

Honda Insight International launch

The Honda Insight will provide a tempting alternative to the Toyota Prius, and undercut it on price, when it goes on sale in the UK. During our first drive we’ll be keen to see if its green credentials can match or beat the big-selling Prius.

Fiat Qubo launch

The Qubo is Fiat’s practical new vehicle for customers who need lots of space in a cheap-to-run package. Much like the popular Citroen Berlingo Multispace, it offers load-lugging abilities and roomy seating with power coming from frugal diesel or petrol engines. We’ll remember to take a tape measure for this road test.

In the car park

During January we’ll also be driving the Renault Laguna Coupe, Toyota Land Cruiser V8 diesel, Suzuki Swift, Mercedes B-Class, Mercedes CLS, Skoda Superb, Volkswagen Caddy Maxi Sportline and we’ll be keeping hold of our Mini Clubman long termer. Keep checking back for our concise Ten Point Tests for each model and our updates on life with the Clubman.
