Auto Trader’s hottest news, car reviews and articles in January

Top review: Volkswagen Golf (MK VI)

Top story: Kahn Cosworth Range Rover

Top feature: Celebrity Motoring Disasters

A victim of Captain Credit Crunch, the sensational Kahn Cosworth Range Rover – a modified SUV – has been slashed to just under 60k – not bad for a mud-plugging monster.

German modifiers Mansory felt that the laws of physics didn’t apply to them – and upped the Bugatti Veyron’s power to 1,200bhp, while former Atomic Kitten star Kerry Katona bagged herself one of the year’s hottest motors: the Nissan GT-R. The GT-R’s faster brother, the V-Spec, was also announced this month.

Auto Trader’s used car forecourt played host to one of the fastest Ferrari F40s, while the bonkers 902k Mercedes ‘Perfectus’ was revealed. And speaking of modified cars, we saw a Ferrari, Lamborghini and McLaren fusion supercar.

A modified Jaguar XF-R hit 225mph, and we brought you an exclusive Top Gear video clip.

We’ve had Ronaldo crashing his Ferrari in a Manchester tunnel, which prompted us to look at other celebrity motoring maladies, while professional racer Ben Collins was ‘outed’ as The Stig, which prompted us to revisit his greatest openers.

We also saw a lumber-ing 700bhp wooden supercar built by Americans, interviewed Murray Walker and racing driver Loris Capirossi, and helped F1 Gods Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher celebrate their birthdays.

New for 2009 – what are the supercars vying for your attention this year? If you don’t fancy a supercar, we rounded up the top sports saloons bargains on AT right now, for everyday practicality and supercar-slaying power…

David Beckham made his move to Milan this month – but what should he drive while he’s out there? We rounded up some top Italian motors for him to consider.

We’ve driven some serious metal this month too – the stunning new 160mph Corsa VXR-R, the cutesy Alfa Romeo MiTo, the Volkswagen Caddy Sportline, the Citroen C6, the Honda Insight, the new Ford Ka, the Toyota IQ, the Mini Convertible, and the Volvo C30.

And to give you a hand with your motoring, we helped you with the 2009 road tax rules, gave you our up-to-date buyers guide, showed you what cars to buy and how to buy, helped you set the price, told you how to buy a used car, what to do before you advertise, showed you how to haggle, gave you the lowdown on used approved and helped you sell your car.

Phew.
