Audi A3

Audi A3

The Audi A3 is arguably the most luxurious model of hatchback ever built. Its interior feels like it has been machined from igneous rock (a good thing), you can cross continents in it comfortably and it still looks good.

But is the Audi A3 cool? You decide…

  1. Regards for this terrific post, I am glad I discovered this website on yahoo.

I brought an brand new A3 in April 08. Yes I did have engine problems on various occasions in the first 6 months. The first two times I took it back to the dealer and they fixed the problem, However once it was fixed the error message would come back up again within two weeks. The third time I took it to the dealer they wouldnt fix it on the same day but they advised me not to drive the car. This problem is to do with the engine filter, once if the filter cant clear itself the engine looses power. Anyway on the third occasion I called out the AA they came out and fixed it within 2 hours. They told me how to rectify the problem if the light comes back on. All you have to do it take the car for a short drive in the required gear and at a certain speed and it clears the filter – sounds hassel but if it comes on during a journey you just change speed and gear until it goes off. The filter gets blocked due to repeated short journeys.
Once I had the problem fixed by the AA the light has only come on twice and goes out after the required drive. I have had no problems with the car for 8 months. It is wonderful to drive and feels great. So much better than a VW anyday.

Both the Golf and A3 are the same underneath however the new golf is an ugly car, the a3 on the other hand is well defined and looks good. The extra price means better interior layout and build quality.

Brian you’re wrong. The new Golf is essentially exactly the same car as the old MKV model with a few tweaks. I have owned both and the A3 is a cut above the Golf for refinement and build quality.

Not sure why anyone would by an aging A3 when you could have a freshly designed VW Golf for less money. Unless the badge is more important to you than the car itself!

Yes this car is a beast, because it is essentially a R32 with four doors and some usable hatch space.

It only looks overpriced until you compare it to the r32.

A friend of mine bought a new A3 in early 2008, and had serious engine problems with it. After asking around he heard many similar stories about the A3, which I found both unusual and quite disturbing! – Anyone else heard of problems? Is this 2009 model any different?
