Alicante used to be a massive Mediterranean trading station, exporting, rice, wine, olive oil and oranges. But today the deserted winding roads on the picturesque Spanish city were alive with the sound of… horsepower.
Yes – today seesthe launch of the all-new BMW Z4, and we’re among the world’s first to take the drop-top Beemer for a spin in Spain.
First impressions? It’s definitely grown up.
It’s bigger than before and looks sensational – startled Spanish villagers were left gawping at the drop-top Bee-Em.
The new Z4 gets a folding metal roof instead of a fabric one which obviously adds some weight, while inside there are lashings of leather and the layout is classy and solid.
The real magic wrapped up underneath the muscular lines? A magnificent 3-litre twin-turbocharged petrol engine with a whopping 306bhp.
This means 0-62mph in 5.1 seconds using a new seven-speed automatic gearbox with steering wheel mounted paddles.
And the engine is a masterpiece – it sounds fantastic at full chat, with a menacing snarl as you hit the red line.
BMW Z4 is a composed sportscar which is effortlessly comfortable – but still has the muscle to put a very big smile on your face…check back on Monday for the full road test.

Regarding BMW, I just google and see this http://www.bmw-parts-wholesale.org/ which introduce a pleasant info before making any decision to buy any parts. But i’m much appreciated to see the list the strategies for as being a great dealer there.

The single word that sums up the new roadster – yes it’s more refined and yes i’m sure the build quality and options are there but at the end of the day if that’s all you want why not get a 4 seater converitble and have the practicality? 2 seaters should feel special and alive. This car felt as dead as a lemming after a particularly bad day.
It sits at the lights and it’s completely silent. You accelerate hard and it’s composed and smooth. I’m aftaid the z4 will be confined to the bin of 2 seaters that have become just another car who’s owners will go on and on about the speed and how great it is while all the owners of boxters and tvr’s and even mazda mx-5′s will have a bit of a smirk because they know what a roadster is all about and that better is not allways better.

people like you only deserve to be in the cars like Mazda, I am afraid but i think u haven’t got any class or understanding of the car. Under the bonnet, this car has Award Winning, straight six, 3 litre engine which will embarrass any other 3 litre car and the looks are just magnificent. If ever you come next to me in your Mazda MX5, i m sorry but i won’t even look at you or your car. It’s a BMW Z4 and it turns the heads naturally and for any driving enthusiast who prefers performance, beauty, class, speed and driving experience, this is the car.
P.S- Stephen, there was nothing personal against you.
