Lamborghinis are awesome. Over-the-top bona fide supercars which leave the likes of Porsche and Ferrari in the sports car market thanks to their outlandish nature.

A Lamborghini Reventon publicity shot
Everything on a Lamborghini is overstated. Except, perhaps, the performance – if a new video showing a Reventon exceeding its 211mph top speed is to be believed.
The Youtube video shows a driver in Saudi Arabia hammering the Reventon, appearing to hit 356kph (221mph) but it’s provoked some major debate online as to whether it’s genuine or not.
The Lambo appears to reach this top speed without much trouble and the speed between the lampposts doesn’t really change despite the car’s rapid acceleration.
Watch the clip and tell us if you think it’s real or fake.

I reckon it’s real – you’ve got to be seriously technical to put a fake top speed on the trip computer.
Would be interesting to know why Lambo underestimated the top speed!

Real. If you can afford a car like that then you’re not going to be bothered about going to the effort of faking its top speed. Second, car manufacturers are notorious for underestimating their top speeds (many 155mph limited cars go a lot faster). Also, speedos usually read high just to be on the safe side.

This video is a 110% FAKE!!!
As Autotrader have mentiond the speed between lamp posts is no where near a 100mph never mind 220..rubishh video korea 1 way better…

Engine note is low & dull with the gear change being too smooth – the car is also far too comfortable at the alleged max speed. You will note the time spacing between the lamp posts is 2sec at 240kph, but remains a steady 1sec from about 290 to 356kph.
Therefore if at 2sec per lamp post at 240kph you would expect a a whopping 480kph at 1sec per post. So unless the post distances changed on multiple occassions along the road this is undoubtably fake!

T Winder – You make me laugh, you can’t be as technical as u want but when you’re that rich and also own a reventon, you don’t have time to be manipulating videos to post on youtube.

If any of yous ever tried recording a speeding car (not that a ’speed’) you will KNOW it always looks alot slower than your actually travelling.
And if u ask hollywood producers (as i do), achieving speed via a camera is actually quite a task.
The lamposts being as high as they are, im not surprised it looks slow, or the timings ‘off’.
This is 100% real, mad arabs with too much money. Forget the speed, you see his house.
Car can go faster than top speed, hot country, good fuel, down a hill, wind, etc.
Ive taken a 1987 1.3 corolla to 125mph, thats 15mph more than the clock shows, and 18mph more than Toyota’s claimed speed.

this car is definitely a great piece of work, it has a great unique design that truly amazes me even if its power hasn’t come close to Veyron but with the looks this car will do for me.

absolute fake!!!!! i think there is a point missing from his speedo 35.6kph more like
April 19, 2009 at 8:01 am
i believe it’s more fake than real. if you observe closely: the distance between the street lamps is the same therefore as the car increases speed, the time it takes for the car to cover that distance should be less. what we can see is that even if the speed of the car gets higher and higher the street lamps ”pass by” in the same rate!! so, even if i do believe a car like that can get those speeds, in this case it’s a fake!

I can’t believe this, how can a personal drive at this speed. But this was SUPERB ! FANTASTIC !
April 20, 2009 at 9:01 am
i think its fake, look at when he changes gear at 308kph, the engine noise drops but the rev counter on the left hand side rises? Now, im not a genius but surely if the rev counter rises…. so does the noise of the engine!
April 20, 2009 at 9:02 am
and the fact that he presses the right hand paddle (assuming that it is the up-change)
April 20, 2009 at 10:04 am
this is probably fake digital speedos are easily manipulated if you got the right gadgets and im pretty sure lamborghini wouldnt underestimate the speed of a brilliant car they would most likely do the opposite and i looks all wrong like no traffic!

It’s poverty that makes you think like that, the question is why would someone with a reventon go around looking for a gadget to manipulate the speedo??? You need to get that poverty thinking out of your head.
