Vauxhall released the first official pictures of the new Astra today, pushing the latest used vauxhall astra into the past.
And the Insignia-inspired design certainly gives the Astra a more mature look.

It’s a classy looking car but it didn’t grab our attention in the office like when the VW Golf, Ford Focus and Honda Civic were first announced.
And while the front clearly shares design cues with the Insignia, the rear has a whiff of Renault Megane about it.

Do you think the new Vauxhall Astra design has what it takes to compete with the benchmark models, the Golf and Focus?

Bought a used Astra 1.4Turbo SRi. Wow after having a Ford Focus 1.6 Zetek of05 eara, what a car. It goes like something posessed. Doing about 36 MPG local on 8 mile tripshalf on dual carageway. Had the cluch / Brake sensors replaced and the wiper clips both under recall and all is now fine cruise control stays on and works fine. More room in the car than the Focus better seating and everything else I can think of. Had the mark 4 Astra 1.6 LS before the Focus which I only bought as I was not keen on the Astra mk5 because of the poor interior.
I am very happy being back with Vauxhall at last.
Have had in the past 2 Vauxhall Victors 1 Vauxhall Viva and now 3 Astras, all suited me fine.
Don’t go for the 1.6 petrol, the car is quite heavy and as such will not be great on fuel.
Go for one of the more powerful diesels with high spec. Most of the earlier niggles have now been ironed out, if yours haven’t then take it back to the dealer and protest.
I’m commenting to let you be aware of of the really good encounter my cousin’s daughter experienced using your web page. She came to find such a lot of issues, most notably how it is like to have an excellent helping character to let other folks effortlessly learn a number of impossible things. You really exceeded visitors’ expected results. I appreciate you for providing those productive, safe, revealing not to mention easy guidance on your topic to Ethel.
I have a new Vauxhall Astra, and I am unable to drive with the rear windows open as it vibrates like a Chinook Helicopter, am I unique in this?
I agree with some of the above I think the Astra H had a more sharper aggressive look which I prefer to the 2010 J model
However they are miles apart when you drive them.
The J is smoother, far more quiet, has a much better ride and better interior, and is a joy on the motorway, However the fuel consumption of my SRI 180Bhp Is rather worrying at 26mpg. Anyone thinking of buying one would be better off with the more powerful 150bhp diesel models with the higher specs than the base model and you’d be pretty happy overall.
Bought new astra march 201o, its already back at dealer for a number of recalls, plus a long list of faults i have with it ,they are getting one chance to sort it out or have to replace, has spoilt what i thought was a good car,my model is 1.6 non turbo 115ps sri, got a loan diesel astra at the momement and thats noisy with big flat spot as you try driving.
Looks like its a bad model at present,we will have to see !!!!!
I think this is a step back
Just bought the new Astra. So much better than the last one.The shape and performance are brilliant. The interrior is more comfotable. It’s the astra for me. Best on the market by far.
It is really beautifully designed, and the inside is even better, my only doubts are about the engine. I now drive a Ford Focus sw 1.8 tdi, 90cv. How the new Vauxhall new Astra 1.6 fuel, 115 cv, would compare with it?
