This just in: BMW 123d M Sport Convertible

A jet black BMW 123d M Sport Convertible has just turned up at the office for a week’s loan.
Wimbledon and Glastonbury have just finished so it was bound to be good weather after those two traditionally rain-soaked events.
Except both the tennis and festival were dry this year so Mother Nature has chosen this week for the downpours. Great.
Anyway, I’m quite excited about the 123d Convertible – it’s got the rave-reviewed 2-litre diesel with is enables 0-62mph in 7.6 seconds, a top speed of 143mph and an average fuel economy of 52.3mpg.
Okay, so I’m not going to go for the top speed but I will be keeping a keen eye on acceleration and fuel economy as I spend a long weekend in the West Country.
The 1 Series Coupe and Convertible are probably my favourite modern day Beemers. I had an E21 316 a couple of years back and – in my biased opinion – it was the best shaped 3 Series. Just a shame it was slow and pretty poor to drive.
Roof down, the 1’s dimensions remind me a lot of my old 3, and I’m willing to bet at least £5 it’s better to drive than the 1981 ‘sports coupe’.
First impressions are good. The £29k Beemer looks great with its roof up or down and the rear seats aren’t just for show – I just comfortably sat behind my own seating position and I’m 6ft tall.
Have you got any questions about the baby Beemer? Have you got one? Are you pleased or disappointed with it? Leave a comment below and we’ll try and get back to you.
