The ancient Rover V8 engine, which weighs the same as a small planet, develops just 180bhp – the same as the 1.4-litre engine in the new Seat Ibiza Cupra.
And then there is the design. The Twingo is what one might call ‘effeminate’ but Lazareth has given it the mother of all makeovers giving it monster wheel arches, aggressive bodykit and a rear diffuser.
But the maddest thing about taking an old car, fitting an older engine and then giving it a brutish bodykit is charging £63,000 for the privilege of owning one.
That’s more expensive than the following motors:
1. BMW M3
2. Nissan GT-R
3. Used Lamborghini Gallardo
We reckon you’ll get more credit from passersby in the Twingo though.
The V8 Twingo joins an elite group of stupid superminis which includes the Toyota Aygo Crazy and Corvette-powered Chevrolet Matiz. Cars we’d love to own but would never spend our own money on.
