Muscle beach

Modified Lamborghini Gallardo

We’ve just brought you some of the world’s most powerful cars – including a twin-turbo Lamborghini and a new British supercar weighing in at 1,800bhp.

But is this too much?

I mean, on UK roads anything more than 200bhp is asking for trouble. You’d cause problems in a Toyota Aygo if you really tried…

Anyway, we understand the point about cars like this. The more outrageous the power, the more headlines it will grab, the greater likelihood it will be snapped up presumably by someone in Dubai and – hey presto – a glamorous new superstar is born.

But these billion-bhp monsters beg the question – is too much muscle a bad thing?

You may well have a squillion horses rampaging through the car, but if you can’t harness the power what’s the point?

The Veyron is a remarkable car – one of our very favourites – because every ounce of its 1,001bhp is usable. And it’ll probably outlast the Earth.

What do you reckon?

Vijay Pattni.

  1. Too much muscle is a bad thing in the wrong hands, but with track days getting so popular there seems to be more of a market for powerful cars. Even hot hatches like the Focus RS are pushing out 300bhp+, and that’s in part due to the track day scene.

  2. Liked the post. Are you doing any new years resolution this year? Mine is to quit smoking and lose all this weight I’ve gained this month lol.
