Footballers are a strange bunch aren’t they?
Let’s be honest, for most blokes it’s the dream job – getting paid to keep fit by kicking a ball around for 90-plus minutes watched by thousands and adored by more.
But maybe it’s all the additional oxygen these boys are getting which leads them to make…strange automotive decisions.
Take Stephen Ireland for instance – the Manchester City player insists on modifying his motors, including his Audi R8 with blue inserts, his Range Rover with pink alloy wheels and the modified Bentley Continental GTC bought for girlfriend Jess Lawlor.
Former Arsenal footballer Emmanual Adebayor also got in on the act and customised his Range Rover with a skull and crossbones badge, while Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard had his shirt number – 8 – stitched into his Rangey’s headrests.
Even the king of Bling – David Beckham – modified a Bentley Arnage with wife Victoria’s name stitched into the arm rest, and front door cupholders modded to hold Pepsi cans.
