    Your appraisal of the A4 is very good. Just wush it applied to mine!
    I have the 2009 A4 TDI Se 170 Avant. I bought it last May in the hope I’d get similar fuel consumption to the previous Passats I’ve driven with a similar engine (but 1.9 TDI PD). They averaged over 55 mpg including motorway and city driving.
    The Audi struggles to produce over 40 mpg on a motorway run from London to Perth & back to London. The Passat used to do at least 55 mpg.
    I use the same driving techniques but normally use cruise control on the A4. (Speed set to 70mph.)
    Does anyone have a comment?
