Why BMW’s supercar will blow the Audi R8 away

The Audi R8 may have been the doyenne of city boys and those with orange wifes for the last couple of years, but BMW’s confirmation of a new supercar to rival the four rings must be sending shudders through Audi’s Ingolstadt headquarters.

BMW Vision EfficientDynamics

Firstly, the R8 is perhaps the first Audi that actually drives anywhere near as nicely as the company’s marketing team would have you believe. BMW has been churning out supreme driving machines for the last 30 years. If anyone can make a supercar truly super, it’s BMW.
Secondly, when BMW’s car arrives in two years, R8 owners will already be looking for the next ‘it’ car.

And thirdly, BMW’s supercar promises to use far less fuel and emit far less CO2 than the Audi, thanks to its hybrid system. You might not think that such things matter to those who buy these cars but, with soaring fuel prices, spiralling taxation for highly-pollutant cars and the lure of appearing to have made an ecologically-sound choice is sure to seal the deal for BMW.

And if that doesn’t do it, the fact that the styling will be influenced by last year’s Vision EfficientDynamics concept most certainly will.

  2. This BMW is nothing as compared infront of the Audi R8. BMW has always got creative thinking and always beats its competitors with many points far ahead!

  3. It looks like a beautiful car but is it real? The R8 is and is the the real dream of any supercar guy. The R8 is definitely sweet.
