Kaisers Chiefed: Nissan stunt pokes fun at Porsche and Audi

It’s one thing suggesting your cars are the best on the market, but it’s a brave company to openly poke a rival manufacturer with a big stick.

Eagle-eyed petrolheads might have spotted the latest billboard ads promoting the Nissan 370Z and GT-R poking fun at its German rivals, suggesting Nissan is “The Winner Hans Down”.

With its tongue firmly in its cheek, Nissan also suggests that in the performance battle between its cars and rivals from Porsche and Audi that “The Germans Came off Wurst” and the “Kaisers Chiefed”.

They’ve also misquoted the oft-misquoted first line of the German national anthem: “Deutschland Deutschland Über-Rated” (the original line has long been dropped from the official anthem).

Last week, Nissan took an Audi TTS to London blazoned with the words: “More expensive, slower and less powerful than a Nissan 370Z.”  It was joined by a Porsche Cayman with “I dream of being as fast as a Nissan 370Z” plastered on the side.

Could it be unwise to mock the German sports car establishment? Looking forward to seeing the response.

    John?

Audi TT 3.2 DSG 0-60 in 3.9 secs????

Erm, I don’t think so! lol

Think you’re getting confused with the R8.

  3. Lets hope this cheeky encounter could lead to competition and some excitement.

I like when companies get a bit cheeky, it keeps things interesting. Too much being serious isn’t good for anyone.

But I’d rather they promoted more of their own vehicle instead of just spending the time berating their rivals – that’s a trick that drives me crazy in politics too.

yeah, and what’s missing from the ad :
    Porsche 911… 0-60 mph …3.4 s
    Audi TT 3.2 DSG 0 – 60 3.9 sec

    überrated? :)

  6. All three makers have big launch coming in 2011……. lets see….. sales and profits will decide everything…………

  7. Nissan lack the badge so they are showing that even though the badge doesnt have the credibility etc over Porsche or Audi they are still great cars and can rival just about anything especially the GTR!

This campaign is pretty ignorant and the national
anthem misquote and misuse is just offensive.
