Kia Sorento impresses

The 2010 Kia Sorento

I’ve driven the 2010 Kia Sorento once before at it’s launch in Spain, and getting back into it again this week on UK roads, I was reminded how good it is.

The 2.2-litre diesel engine shared between Kia and Hyundai is very competent indeed, producing 194bhp and moving the two-tonne Sorento along very nicely.

Our test car is fitted with a six-speed automatic which changes gears quickly and smoothly and feels perfectly suited to the kind of relaxed driving style you adopt in a big SUV.

It’s a true seven-seater too, the rearmost seats folding up out of the boot floor and offering enough space for adults on shorter journeys, not just kids.

Looks, both inside and out, are so far ahead of the old Sorento it’s unbelievable, and a credit to the speed Kia is reinventing its model line-up.

Check back soon for its full review.

  3. It is said that the dynamic damper suspension released on the SX models would make its way into the other trim levels to improve the harsh suspension.. Now don’t know to how much extent this is true..!!
